Sport-related Head Trauma

In the Sport Concussion Research Laboratory at UBC Okanagan, we focus on discerning the mechanisms underlying the sensorimotor, cerebrovascular and neurocognitive consequences of mild traumatic brain injury, as well as exposure to repetitive sub-concussive head trauma (think heading a soccer ball).

Clinically oriented projects in the lab combine advanced data collection methods from biomechanics, neuroscience, experimental and clinical psychology, and cerebrovascular physiology.

We also use our basic and clinical findings to drive applied research, including, for example, the development of a helmet liner designed to mitigate concussion risk.
